Surf and Turf in Dublin: Steak, Prawns and Lobster Restaurants

Six Dublin steakhouses currently run a surf and turf: most pair steak with prawns, one with lobster.

Written by Steakhouse Dublin

“Surf and turf” sounds like it should mean steak and lobster, but on most Dublin menus it means steak and prawns. We checked all 22 steakhouses we track against their own current menus, not marketing copy or aggregator listings, and found six with a specifically named surf and turf or steak and lobster dish. Only one of them puts actual lobster on the plate.

Below are all six, with what’s actually in the dish and what it costs. For the difference between the term and the reality, see our guide to what surf and turf actually means.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Dublin steakhouse actually serves steak and lobster?

Hawksmoor Dublin is currently the only one of the 22 steakhouses we track with a fillet steak served alongside real lobster: its Surf & Turf, a grilled half lobster with garlic butter, for €89.

Is surf and turf always steak and lobster?

No. Surf and turf just means meat paired with any seafood. On Dublin menus that’s almost always prawns rather than lobster.

How much does surf and turf cost in Dublin?

As an add-on to an existing steak, it runs from about €8.50 to €12. As a standalone dish with lobster, expect closer to €89.

Do these restaurants take separate bookings for surf and turf?

No, book a table as normal through the restaurant’s own page (linked above); surf and turf is ordered from the regular menu, not a separate booking category.
