Dublin Steakhouses Open Christmas Day & St. Stephen’s Day
Most Dublin restaurants close on Christmas Day, and a fair few stay shut on St. Stephen’s Day too. Kitchens want a break after December, and there’s more money in three weeks of party menus than one quiet service on the 25th.
We’re only covering steakhouses with a festive menu actually live right now: FIRE Steakhouse & Bar, F.X. Buckley, Hawksmoor Dublin and Ryleigh’s Rooftop Steakhouse. A few other well-known Dublin steakhouses don’t have a published Christmas lunch or dinner menu yet, so we’ve left them off this list rather than guess. None of these four has confirmed trading on Christmas Day itself, and St. Stephen’s Day isn’t confirmed at any of them either, so call ahead if the 26th is the day you need.
This guide covers what’s confirmed for each: festive menu pricing, opening hours around Christmas, and how to book. Note: most Dublin venues don’t lock in 2026 Christmas trading hours until October or November, so where we couldn’t confirm something, we’ve said so rather than guessed. Always call ahead before booking around the 25th or 26th.
Which Dublin Steakhouses Have Christmas Menus This Year?
| Restaurant | Location | Christmas Day | St. Stephen’s Day | Festive Menu |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FIRE Steakhouse & Bar | Mansion House, Dawson St, D2 | No | No | Christmas menu → |
| F.X. Buckley | Pembroke St & other D2 venues | No | No | Christmas menu → |
| Hawksmoor Dublin | College Green, D2 | No | No | Christmas menu → |
FIRE has directly confirmed it’s closed on the 25th and 26th. F.X. Buckley and Hawksmoor haven’t published a Christmas Day or St. Stephen’s Day statement, so we’ve marked both No by default rather than guess — confirm directly before booking. Only steakhouses with a live, published festive menu are listed here.

Frequently asked questions
Do Dublin steakhouses require advance deposits for Christmas group bookings?
Generally yes, once a group hits six to eight covers in December. Most take a per-head deposit, usually deducted from the final bill. FIRE and F.X. Buckley route festive bookings through named event contacts rather than standard reservations, a sign a deposit or pre-order is expected. Ask what it covers and whether it’s refundable.
What are the typical service charges or holiday surcharges on Christmas Day?
None of these steakhouses trade on Christmas Day itself, so this really applies to December party menus and Christmas Eve service. A discretionary service charge, typically 10–12.5%, is standard once a group hits six to eight people. Check whether your quoted set-menu price already includes it.
How far in advance should I book for St. Stephen’s Day or Christmas Eve dinner?
Christmas Eve slots at venues with a dedicated Eve menu, like FIRE, fill up weeks out once the menu goes live in November. St. Stephen’s Day has fewer venues open (just Ryleigh’s and Boeuf confirmed here), so those tables go fast too. Book three to four weeks ahead as a minimum, six to eight weeks for a group of six or more or a specific time slot.
Are vegetarian or non-beef alternatives available on festive steakhouse set menus?
Yes, generally. Even beef-focused menus default to a turkey main plus at least one vegetarian dish, FIRE’s festive menu includes both a turkey roulade and a leek and sweet potato tortellini. Vegan and gluten-free needs are usually accommodated with advance notice rather than listed as standing options, so flag them when booking.
This guide reflects publicly available information as of 1 October 2026. Most Dublin venues don’t confirm exact Christmas Day and St. Stephen’s Day trading until October or November. “Not confirmed” means we couldn’t verify it, not that a restaurant is definitely closed. Always confirm directly, especially for group and corporate bookings.
